Chile`s Bicentennial Year: Celebrate good times? I don’t think so.

This essay is about my country particular birthday, in other words, the Chilean bicentennial year. The official history says: Chile was an independent country since 1810, September 18. In that date was happen the first government reunion, in Santiago. The leader of that reunion, called “Primera junta de gobierno”, was Mateo de Toro y Zambrano, an aristocrat man. Paradoxically, he was unconditional whit Spain and its King, “Fernando seventh”. Nevertheless, another people think the correct date of Chile`s independence was in 1818, when Chile wins the independence war, and the leader of the resistance was a military men, called Bernardo O’Higgins. Themfore, O’Higgins is named “the father of nation”. But, in my opinion, Chile never has been independent. Now, I’m gonna talk about it.

First of all, I will make a question. When a country is independent?. I think Chile is not an independent nation for one simple reason. I don’t believe in that. I don’t think we can divide the countries in categories like “independent” and “not independent”. But, Why?. Following Marx, social classes are not part of a country, but in the world are divided equally, maintaining inequalities. On the one hand we have the bourgeoisie, who control the means of production, and on the other the proletariat, which has no means of production, but works directly with them. Thus we have a society sharply divided into two classes, unequal. The role of the nation and the homeland is to make people forget their material conditions, and cling to invisible items, such as nationalism. So I think that nationalism, like religion, are the cause of most wars and tragedies that occur.

But, by no means whatsoever the popular traditions doesn’t exist. Obviously there exist, and I love a lot of them. For example I like so much the empanada, the corn cake, curanto, and the chicha and wine. All of them are traditional Chilean Food. Also, the soccer’s teams like Universidad the Chile and Santiago Wanders, or “Condorito” and “Mampato” (populars comic), or the traditional music, for example: Violeta Parra, Victor Jara, Inti Illimani, and Los Jaivas. I´m a big fan of them, but it doesn’t mean that I’m a nationalist and patriotic.

Finally, I must confess that I´m not a patriot person, because I believe in all American integration without the artificial frontiers, without the wars, and first of all, without the social inequalities caused by an aggressive economic system. Evidently, you may say I´m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

Money, get back!

“Who will not like to be millionaire?” To tell the truth, I can’t deny my believe in that phrase, more than a question. Honestly, I’d never had thought about it, because I see it like a null possibility, How could it be? ... Currently, I study a career where the possibilities to become a millionaire are 0, 001%, although, in a second thought, I think on that in some occasions, the times I‘ve played kino o loto (gambling). In that case, probably I’ll leave Santiago, to some beach near by, maybe to the south. I’ll invest in real state goods and shares in LATAM and AZUL AZUL S.A. (the last one, an irony). Mmm, I Know!, I’ll spend mi money in some music megastore, something like Audiomusica o Fancymusic, also I’ll would have a music academy, and lots of rehearsal rooms, the prices will be lower than the usual. I say that because I’m a musician and I think that duopoly of those megastores have raised the prices and have eliminated all type of competition…. Wait, it seems that I’m talking about the same thing, I messed up.
Anyway, my consolation is that I’m very organized with money I have, almost maniac, I have everything annotated, who I owe, who owes me, so I have no problems in that. I guess neither in the future, when I’ll work.
Finally, If I ever had to pawn any of my belongings?, I couldn’t tell… really, but I do know that in my house is a pile of “possible things to pawn”, unimaginable!. If you ask my father, he will say the contrary, I’m sure of it…

An incovenient truth

Hi everyone, and welcome again to heufeblog, a hidden place when you will have fun!

Today, I´m going to talk about “an inconvenient truth”, like Al Gore said. It's about my (no) environmental awareness and actions I do or don't do for it. First I must confess that on this subject I am not someone consequent, because there is a big difference between my actions and my conscience. I know, that is disappointing….

For example, I have read many books about the damage to the environment, and as capitalism needs plunder natural resources for their existence and growth, but in my day to day, in my actions, I am not someone who can be considered an environmentalist. In fact, I laugh a little with these people, because I think them are hippie and cynic.

The reason behind that, maybe, I never have seen examples of environmental awareness and actions about my parents (ok, I know I'm a bit old to say this, but the example is worth), just the opposite. My father is very bad recycler and my house is an example of this, sadly for me. On the other hand, my mother did not have pro-environmental actions, but some support for facebook to some cause, such as the "punta de choros" case, a very medialike example. But well, as they say, "from consciousness to action", and what I have to do now is to look a little more about my actions, to understand that if I do nothing, my claims are invalid.

But, not everything it’s lost, I think….
Finally, some actions for improve my environmental perform
- Use my bike! (it´s been left aside)
- Recycle the trash every wednesday
- Spare water
- Don’t use plastic bags

Well my friends, thanks for read my opinion and see you next time!

Reboxine: danger.

Hi everybody, welcome again to heufeblog, a hidden place when you will have fun. Today I’m gonna talk about a piece of news that I read today in “The Guardian”, a british popular newspaper website. It’s about “reboxine”, an antidepressant, and their dangerous effects. But before, I want to make a question…. Why in this society are there so many consumers of antidepressants?. I think people take it as a fact, without questioning it. Well, there are books like "Plato, no Prozac!", but I'm serious. I know that in Chile a lot of studies show that half of the population has used them. I think it’s very serious.

Let´s see the situation in England (remember Chile is called “Latin England” hah). Well, the piece of news states that scientists, of British Medical Journal, say about that drug works no better than a simple placebo, even that could have negative effects on the health of people who consumed it. They also complain that the company manufacturer that distributed the drug (Pfizer) never "notice" about the effects and hid very important information. Also, this scientists say that the manufacturer have financial interests, are more important than the people health. Outstanding but very common….sad but true

My favorite Movie !

Hi! Welcome back to Heufeblog!

Today I'm gonna talk about my favourite movie ever, but I have to tell you that I'm not really close to the cinema, even when I love it, I haven't seen so much movies like I whish to. Well, my personal favourite movie is...the fact is I'm not so sure, myabe its Taxi Driver, or maybe Requiem For A Dream, hahaha, I don't now. But I think I'm gonna tell you about another great movie: Hot Shots 2, if you haven't seen it yet, please...see it!, laugh is guaranteed. I like very much this movie because means a great irony about the all those idiots war movies we all know and that we have seen million times. I don't want to look like a snob or something, but anyway I have enjoied those king of movies too.

Anyway, this great movie is about that kind of things,a retired soldier who is finding himself at the east south of Asia, and then he is called by the C.I.A for a rescue mision of one of the soldiers that have been kidnapped by the evil Sadam Hussein. The name of this soldier is Tooper Harley, played the great Charlie Sheen, who at the begining don't wanna do the mision because he is on a peace state of mind, working as a carpenter and in his free time he practices thailand box. Then he changes his mind and he go to the dangerous rescue mission...there are all the hilarous parts of the movie, that are the reason to see this movie. My favourite scene is the fight between Sadam and the US president at the mansion of Sadam, memorable. Hope you see it!

See you in the next one fellas!

Cerati`s dead, by twitter.

Hello everybody. Welcome to Heufeblog, a place when you will have fun.

Today I’m gonna talk about a piece of new, that I watched yesterday on “24 horas”, a news program. But first I will make you a question….Do you know Soda Stereo band, and his singer and guitar player, Gustavo Cerati?. I suppose if you know him.... well, in the news I saw his death announced via twitter!. The reporter said that the piece of news was quickly spread by all twitters, who spread the rumor to all the web, creating a general hysteria into his fans in Southamerica.

This false piece of news was disseminated by a newspaper of Costa Rica (I don’t remember the name). Due to the generated repercussion, several media from the continent wanted to contact the journalist from that country, who had published the piece of news, but that was impossible. I guess the reactions of his fans in Argentina, knowing the temper of them, a bit overreacted for my taste, jej.

Ok, I will recognize that I’m a fan of Cerati. I think he is a great guitar player and composer of a lot masterpieces, don’t you know the guitar solo of “Ciudad de la Furia”, is really nice. I know that a lot of people hate him, but….it doesn’t matter.

Well, after all this scandal, in the artist's facebook page, Cerati's death was discarted, clarifying that all was a press rumor. So, Cerati still alive but very sick since a lot of months.

See you on next time my friends!

pd: Listen "Dynamo", the best Soda Stereo Album, a masterpiece.

Viva Mexico cabrones !

Hi everybody, welcome back to heufeblog, a hidden place where you will have some fun (humbly). Today I going to tell you about a country I would like to know it, Mexico. Specially Mexico City (The D.F), one of the biggest cities of the world. Well, the most important reasons to visit this country are the next one:

At first, as some people has told me and as I have noticed, mexican people are very friendly, they are party people, they love to eat, and top play soccer, a sport in which they have improved a lot during the last years. Also, they have a really interesting political and social history, and it becomes more interesting when you have to go to the importants places where all things happens, like the Chiapas conflict and all the drugs problem.

Because all this, I wish to study at the UNAM, the best college in Latin America, also knows for its history. The fact is that my possibilities are not so much because my economic situation and my money problems. Just a scholarship could give me the chance to go there and study at that college…so as a first step, I have to finish my career here in Chile and then contact some people who could help me to get a scholarship. Like some people says, is not so hard to dream.

My last semester !

Hi everybody!. Welcome to “heufeblog”, a hidden place where you will have some fun (humbly). Today, i am going to talk about the last semester of my career, sociology. About the good things, and the bad things. Lets start whith the good things, in general it was a good semester, becouse it was very quiet and i didn’t reprove any class.

However, even if was a good semester, the bad things are more interesting to tell, so I’ll tell you about that. The first thing I remember is my “statics drama”, but…why call it in that why? I mean, Statics IV was the last subject of all these statics subjects, which are the most difficulty subjects of the carrer whith Theory. What happened to me was kinda funny, because I did have to do a second chance exam, which you have to do when you have a very low average (under 4.0). Well, my posibilities were obvious, there was the risk of make and another whole year at college just because this subject, so it was a matter of live or death.

Finally, the drama of the whole thing is that the mark I needed to aprove this subject was a 4.8, and my mar kwas a 4.7…really bad luck!. At last, my average was 39.4, and I felt like the world record guiness bad luck winner…however the teacher thought about my case and he aproved me, so at the end I had some luck.
